Reimagined Help Docs - Calendly

I created reimagined help documents for Calendly, a productivity app.

I used friendly, first person language to simplify the tasks while still educating the viewer. I found the blue hex code the website actually uses for their buttons and used that for any action words or buttons that needed to be clicked within the documents.

I created a glossary to first educate people on the definitions of what assets they’re learning to create in these guides, before creating the step by step content. I wanted everyone to be on the same page before beginning, and not judge anyone who may not know what a certain action in the software does. Flexing empathy when possible.

Made my own gifs using GifLab and screenshots from within the software to directly show people what the next step is. For step by step instructions, important to simplify and show, so people don’t get lost.

At the end of the documents, I created real loom videos showing screenrecordings of the exact process and talking it through. Videos can be helpful for software steps because people can pause and follow along. Wanted to deliver an asset that was more than just written directions.

Using fun giphy’s when appropriate, encouraging people.

I gave users a CTA at the end: either a click through of check out this next doc, or create this and post it to your social media and tag us, etc. Important for docs to not be stand alone, but end with a next step users can do, for both them and the organization publishing.

Finally, I ended with a Qualtrics survey. I usually end learning resources with an NPS survey as I am always trying to learn and grow with feedback and gauge how helpful something was.
